When I opened my box, I was first impressed with the wonderful paper bags that some of the contents are placed inside and also the beautiful metallic gold material. These two 'spoke to me' and that was the starting point for my project ...
After carefully stashing my goodies, I opened up two of the bags ready to use as my background for a notebook. The card is recycled from a board backed envelope. I began by working out how big the spine should be - in this instance 3cm - taking this measurement from the total length, half, creating my front and back covers.
Using Mod Podge, I added my paper bags to the outside, even including the seams as they add further texture. Once dry, I covered the outside with mod podge to act a s a protective layer and again put to one side.
The beautiful gold metallic material was just perfect for the spine and after roughly cutting the material - as not bothered by any fraying - I added it to the spine again using mod podge. I also ensured that the material was covered on the outside too; again to add protection and durability.
With the star stencil, using Nuvo embellishment mousse in Fresh Copper, I added some extra detail to the background. Next taking the copper/gold/silver ribbon, I added it to the edge where the material spine meets the background. One reason is for extra decoration but another is to secure to the layers together.
Next part is my favourite bit ... the faffing! I add oodles of the glittered stars, which come in a plethora of sizes, layering on to each other. Have to say that now I felt that the design looked flat, so added some embossed card panels (from my scrap box) and the wooden stars, (coloured with gold & copper Nuvo embellishment mousse).
Before adding the notebook pages, I created an acetate outer cover, securing it in place inside bother the front & rear covers. A double bow on the acetate cover brings all the elements together.
Using my cropadile, I made holes top and bottom, threading the elastic through ready to add my notebook pages. Doing the latter means I can add and remove notebooks by either simply untying the elastic or slipping the used pages out.
I had a fabulous time playing with my goodies and still have lots left to make additional projects - that includes the gold material, ribbon & glittered stars.
A huge thank you to Carolyn from Bubbly Funk and the DT for allowing me to play along with them using the "Through the Letterbox" kit.
Have a wonderful crafty day everyone and hope to catch up with you all in blog land over the weekend.
