"Cheese" with Sticks & Bones from Polka Doodles

For the last two weeks I have been fighting a battle with blogger and was losing ... spectacularly! However, bit by bit I have claimed my blog back and now have loads .... I mean loads ... to share with you all. Please be patient with me ...

One thing I am very late posting about is my DT make for "The Pencil Case". This post was schedules to go live on Saturday 19th June but because of the above, it has languished in cyber blogger space (hee, hee, hee). The theme is "V = variety of colours" and I am hoping I've met the brief with my card ...

I have used the photographer image from Sticks and Bones collection colouring her my Lyra Rembrandt Polycolor pencils and adding some white highlights with my Sakura pen.

Colours used:
skin: light flesh, rose carmine, dark flesh and pompelan red
hair: cinnamon, raw umber and black
camera: black, silver grey, white and dark sepia
flower: rose carmine and lemon
dinosaur and bracelet: apple green and moss green

I have used simple mat and layering, matching the colours from the paper. The paper was my inspiration for the colours on my image too. The additional elements can all be found in the collection.

Okay better face the music and get my card finally blogged especially as there is another new challenge on Saturday!

Have a wonderful weekend,

Bunched Bouquet stamps from Tonic Studios

For the last two weeks I have been fighting a battle with blogger and was losing ... spectacularly! However, bit by bit I have claimed my blog back and now have loads .... I mean loads ... to share with you all. Please be patient with me ...

Tonic recently released two wonderful set of floral stamps called "Bunched Bouquet", Set 1 and Set 2. I was very lucky and had a play before they were released. Here are 2 of my projects for the launch on Create and Craft ...

This is a 6"x6" card with the front face folded back on itself. The blue strip has been stamped with "It's your special day" sentiment strip and embossed with Shimmering Pearl embossing powder. I have then used the Celtic Circle dies to create my panel, layering them with 3D foam. The sentiment in the middle is from SU and embossed with Blue Odyssey embossing powder.

The roses have been stamped with Broken China distress ink. I stamped the background and let it thoroughly dry, then over stamped with the detail using the same ink. It gives a great subtle effect. The leaves were stamped with Peeled Paint distress ink.

Products used:

My second card has made the "It's your special day" sentiment strip again but this time as the focus, achieved by stamping and embossing it (with Gold Enchantment), on the die cut background.

I have layered the square based heart dies with 3D foam and then began arranging my flowers. Before I could place the sentiment, I had to create my flower embellishments.

I created a strip using the Bunched Bouquet (Set 1), masking and layering as I went along (using distress inks), until I created my flower arrangement. Finally I stamped the detail for the rose and embossed with Gold Enchantment powder. These flowers were cut out and layered with 3D foam.

It has been a frustrating time because all I was intending to do was make my blog easier to manage and navigate ... well that's what I though but Google didn't agree and thought I was hacking my own blog and froze me out. When I was allowed back in, my blog was all over the place with missing posts and blogs and layout completely funny. There were even additions which weren't mine! I know in this day of social media that blogging is deemed as the poor relation but I love my blog and sorely missed it. Thankfully all has changed and I'm back.

Hope everyone is well and been crafting up a storm. I know I have lots to catch up. Okay, gonna dash as I have lots more to share ... and fingers crossed, you'll see them.

Do it yourself with pan pastels

It is a new "Anything Goes" mixed media/altered/anything messy challenge over at Love to Create and I am in the process of making a present for someone, from "scratch" ... the presentation box and the present itself plus some added embellishments.

I began by making the box itself using kraft card and packing tape (the type you wet with water to make sticky) and then decided that it needed a wrap around lid ... as you do ...

Next I covered both the inside and outside of the box with white acyrlic paint, sponging it randomly as I still want the kraft card to show through.

Next I added some raw umber pan pastel to the edges and began stamping using a selection of Premium Art Brand stamps: Postcard, Roses and STOP, (all links below). Still using the raw umber, I added shading to each of the stamped postcards.

I then added some magenta pan pastel, to add colour highlights, blending with the pan pastel colourless blender.

Now another layer of stamped images using the different Premium Art Brand stamps sets; some stamped with black ink and some stamped with Perfect Medium, vcoloured with either magenta or raw umber pan pastel.

Finally my box was decorated ... however you will notice that the base section hasn't been decorated but this is because it will be ... sort of ... can't say anything more.

Finally I created some matching decorated A4 card ready to use on my other project ... but you will have to wait and see what I do ...

Back to work tomorrow, so a clearing up sort of day and that includes my crafting area .... have a great day what ever you are doing,

Something different from Tonic Studios ...

This weekend, Tonic Studios are launching a new range of embossing powders, floral bouquet stamp sets and sentiment strip stamps on Create and Craft; I was lucky enough to have a play and help create some samples. Here is one of the cards I made for this weekends launch...

I created a decorative back panel using the sentiment strip stamp, "It's your special day", embossed with Glitter Noir embossing powder. On top of this panel I layered a small piece of red card and then a panel die cut from the Love/Believe Topper set.

Stamping the rose stamps and leaves one at time, embossing with the Glitter Noir powder, (so it was stamp, emboss, mask, stamp, emboss etc etc), I created my centre topper. Once this was completed, I cut the image out and placed it on the panel, raised with 3D foam. I then stamped and embossed another rose (on to the matching red card) and added this to my topper.

At this point I decided that my card needed something else, so stamped the rose again and several of the leaves, embossing everything with the Glitter Noir powder. The rose was placed in the lower corner with 2 of the leaves and the extra leaves, placed behind the red rose.

As a final finishing touch, I added some hearts in matching colours. I haven't added any sentiment as didn't know what I wanted as my card could suit quite a few occasions; what do you think?

I have more cards to share with you over the weekend, so watch this space,
