Polka Doodles challenge #2

WOW a week has gone by already & we are onto our 2nd challenge over at Polka Doodles. A big thank you to everyone who entered the sketch challenge this week - there were oodles & oodles of entries & I spent many a happy hour, with a large black coffee & the occasional Belgium Bun (yum) looking at all the entries. Now it was very hard for the DT to pick the top 3 from all the fab entries submitted this week but it was a task we had to do & here they are:

1st - Lou - Louby Lou
2nd - Lynda - Lynda Loves Crafting
3rd - Linda - A Slice of Life

Nikki has designed a fab set of blinkies for the "Fab 3" to proudly display on their blogs. & there is also a prize for the 1st place winner. Don't forget the MEGA LUSH, SCRUMMILICIOUS BLOG CANDY draw over at Polka Doodles doesn't finish until 31st May, so if you haven't already entered, you have a couple of days left to do so.

The sketch this week took
me a while to get my head around but I got there in the end . . .

I have used the scrummy papers "Sugar Cherry Cupcakes" which are from a collection of designs to be found on the "Sugar Birdies" CD. I have then created 2 cherry toppers using these papers & the sentiment topper has been written by me! They were then layered along the edge. Card finished off a printable ribbon design & further embellished with thin red ribbon.

As for the cupcake . . I printed 2 and have layered them on top of each other but have made the top layer slightly smaller so that it gives the cupcake more dimension. I have chalked all the edges with shimmer chalks to create a shadow effect. The cherry was finished off with its own bit of bling!

I hope you will be able to join us again this week & I can't wait to see what you make using the fab sketch. You could also be the lucky recipient (big word!) of one of the fabaroo Polka Doodles "top 3 " blinkies. Don't forget to check out what the other DT members have made - I think its amazing how we have all come up with something completely different using the same papers!

Take care and "Happy Friday",

2S4U & Simon Says Challenges

It's been an absolute age since I joined in with the 2S4U challenge due to prior commitments but I was determined to participate this week. Before anyone says anything, I know that I've left to the last minute, but hey, I've done this weeks sketch ! Yeah me ! My card is also being entered into the Simon Says challenge as it fits the theme this week and for once I'm early (for me) uploading my card for their challenge.

I have flipped the 2S4U sketch on its side as I knew straight away what image I wanted to use & also that I wanted the image to be 3D. Yep, this fab bird which I have coloured with my promarkers & then cut out.

Papers: Polka Doodles "Sugar Birdies"
Image: Polka Doodle "Stampies"
Rub ons: basic Grey
Flowers: Hero Arts from Simon Says

I then made the extra paper curly bits, inking & chalking the edges. The bird originally came with one wing, so I copied the wing design and triplicated it, layering the wings on top of each other. They also got the chalk & ink treatment.

The longest part about making this card was deciding on the sentiment. There were 3 I liked but chose this Basic Grey on in the end. Just love the sentiment and it then makes my card suitable for any occasion.

The fab flowers are from Hero Arts (via Simon Says shop) & make a change from the plain Prima flowers. I know I could stamp or decorate the Prima flowers but by the time I've thought of the idea, it's usually too late! The added flourishes are also from the same Basic Grey rub on pack. I'm quite chuffed with card and was surprised how quickly it came together. I think this card may need a box to go in for sending or I'll just have to hand it over in person!

Take care everyone & many thanks for stopping by. I promise to catch up with all your blogs really soon as I've been a bit behind lately.

Unfortunately I was unable to join in with the ICS challenge last week & therefore was determined to join in this week. I'm a HUGE fan of ICS (Inspirational Card Sketches) and have always found the sketches a dream to work with and this weeks one was no exception.

I have used the "scraps / left overs" to make this card and this is the theme over on the PWC (Papertake Weekly Challenge) this week. I must admit this was my New Years Resolution to use more of my scraps up and so I am grateful to PWC's for their gentle reminder! In the beginning I originally had a box full of bits which over time has increased in size. Then there was a box for each colour & now my box(es) look more like suitcases stuffed full of offcuts etc - I'm sure there is many a crafter out there who is as bad as me for hoarding precious scraps of paper/card/ribbon etc etc etc.

I have used left over bits from Polka Doodles "Sugar Birdie" papers. The flowers are also part of the same collection. A dash of doodling around the edges; ribbon & then a button tied to the ribbon with ribbon (!) & voila my card is completed. I am amazed to say that for once I have actually stuck to the ICS sketch, so pretty pleased with myself.

Back to normal for me as I have to go into school tomorrow even though its half term; loads of art prep still to do. Mind you the extra money will definitely come in handy after the garage handed me my bill today . . . don't ask!

Wedding card

Hi everyone,

Hope you all enjoyed your 3 day weekend; I know I did. We did a "boot sale" on Sunday and slowed cooked under the sun but it was fun. I know that there is a "credit crunch" on at the moment but some people will haggle over nothing ! Aaron set up his own table and was selling a few bits; we had already advised him not to over price things but then, not to sell them ridiculously cheaply! However the amount of people who kept coming over and trying to "bully" him into selling things for stupid prices was phenomenal. It was like they were abusing the fact that it was an 11 year old boy selling his toys. We could see that he was becoming upset so we arranged for him & a friend to go to the cinema whilst we stayed at the boot sale. What annoys me the most is that people will criticise the "young generation" for poor manners etc, when the adults he interacted with on Sunday set the worse example EVER! OK, that's off my chest now!

Whilst having a blog hop this morning looking at all the fab cards being made for the Polka Doodles challenge, I came across this challenge blog - Digital Tuesday. Now I know that there are probably loads of you that know about the blog & participate weekly, but I didn't; why I just don't know! As a fan of digital papers etc, knew I had to join in and as the theme was "wedding", even better.

I have made a non-traditional coloured wedding card. I printed out the topper twice; once onto white paper & another onto a coloured paper. I then cut out 2 different sized hearts and layered them over the original topper. The sentiment topper is from the same kit - "Just Hanging Around" from Funky Fairy's Papercrafts. Added some ribbon and made a dangled thing using beads & a charm, sewn onto a organza bow.

Have a great week everyone and I do hope the weather improves here as it is PANTS! What can I expect . . . it is Half term!

WOW, Friday already - where has the week gone? We've been busy at school getting ready for school plays & of course, "Art Week". If any of you want to help me prep for the "event", please feel free to pop over !

Well, exciting news . . . the POLKA DOODLES Challenge Blog is now officially open for business and Nikky is offering a MEGA stash of goodies to launch the new blog and papers - over £80.00 of crafty lushness.

This weeks challenge was a sketch which I have more or less followed - I know . . . a first for me ! I decided that I would use the yummy frames in the Polka Doodles Sugar Birdie papers as my focal point. I have used the frame as a window and placed acetate behind so you can see inside the card. Loads of ribbon from my stash and a trailing flower around the frame.

The inside is decorated to match and lines up perfectly . . . you wouldn't believe the amount of perspiration (I was always taught that ladies perspire and men sweat!), that went into that part I can tell you!

Now we would really love you to join in with us and use the fab sketch as your inspiration. The really talented DT have made some fab projects for this, our first challenge - go check them all out if you don't believe me ! lol x x x

Have a great weekend everyone,

Funky Fairy Challenge #17

Hi everyone - hope you are all well? This is a quick post as have loads of prep work to do for the up and coming "Art Week" at school (starting at the beginning of June). I've made loads of bits so far but still have loads more to do - big sigh. I will be running workshops for every class in school from the Nursery children, upto the Class 6 - all in all approx 230 children making 3/4 things per workshop ! Yep, loads of prep work !

The theme this week over at the Funky Fairy's Challenge Blog is "Buttons & Circles" and I knew which image I wanted to use straight away. The card then came about from there ! I received the image in a RAK package from Linda (many thanks) and loved the sentiment. My hubby sooooooo relates to this senario as I am terrible for writing "To Do Lists" and leaving them everywhere to make sure that if I forget anything on one list, it will be on another list somewhere else!!!

Papers: "Hope" & "Gorgeous Ginghams" from Funky Fairy's
Grommets & brads from stash
Buttons: Basic Grey

Have a great day and many thanks for "popping over",

3 challenges in 1 card !

Wow have impressed myself here ! 3 challenges completed in 1 card and it wasn't deliberate . . . I promise.

There is a fab sketch over on the "Just Magnolia" blog and the fabby Katie had sent me this image which was just perfect to use for my Nephew's birthday card. Now my nephew has an unusual name and I always like to include it on his presents / cards etc as I don't think I could find a personalised card in any shop . . .

. . . . . which nicely fits into the "Cute Card" challenge this week (to use letters & numbers). Finally the "Simon Says" challenge wanted us to make a card for the "boys / men" . . . yep another challenge completed. Yeah me!

Papers: Shabby Princess
Image: Edwin (Spring collection)
Stickers: TLC

Stamps: SU Whimsey Garden
Other bits from stash

Love this SU sentiment stamp which reads "the time to be happy is now. the place to be happy is here".

Now got to get a move on as have to prep 30 butterfly masks ready for decorating tomorrow . . . eek and also MUST photograph my DT card for the NEW POLKA DOODLES challenge on Friday - I hope you didn't forget and we can't wait to see.

Take care,

ICS challenge

If you hadn't already guessed I love making note books and have loads - all for different projects etc and since I got my Bind-It-All (thanks Lana) . . . well there's no stopping me. I recently made myself another notebook to use for all my ideas for the schools up and coming "Art Week" and was busy jotting down notes in the Staff Meeting when Dee (Deputy Head) noticed my book. She is like me a consummate "to do list" person but she uses loads of paper stapled together or attached with Treasury tags. So as a treat, I thought I would make her a notebook and I used the ICS sketch as my inspiration.

I have probably (!) added a little bit extra to the notebook than the original sketch wanted but the notebook just needed these extras! Seriously it did ! Dee loved it as well - thankfully!

Papers: "In with the Old" from Funky Fairy
Letter stickers: Making Memories
Rub ons: 7 Gypsies
Chipboard: Basic Grey "Boxer"

I hope everyone has had a great weekend. We have spent today watching Aaron play hockey but unlike the other weekend, he was smothered in goo to ensure no wind burn this week! Just a quick trip to the emergency doctors to check out his ankle injury instead! You can't win them all!

Have a great week everyone,

Happy Birthday Sammie inspired by 2S4U !

Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday dear Sammie
Happy Birthday to you !

Sammie rather bravely (or foolishly) has decided to run the "Race for Life" whilst belly dancing - eek the thought of running full stop, sends my legs packing and questioning the sanity of my brain. I'm not a lazy person but just ever so allergic to the gym & possibly exercise !?!?! With my job, I stand nearly all day, so when I get home and finally relax, I just can't persuade my body to do anything remotely "sweat breaking"!

Anyhow I digress muchly . . I wanted to do something different for Sammie and was very inspired by the "2S4U" sketch this week and thought I'd make her a "notebook" for all her crafty notions.

Papers: Making Handmade Cards
Ribbon & flower from stash

Chipboard: Basic Grey & Dovecraft
Rub ons: Creative Expressions

The notebook looked soooooooo lonely (!) that I decided to make a matching card using the same sketch.

I couldn't post this any sooner because I didn't want Sammie to see it before she opened her parcel and if scheduler is playing properly, this post should appear on the correct day! Well, actually I should say "if I have set the date correctly etc etc".

Have a great weekend everyone,

Polkadoodle DT !

Wow, wow & wow ! The ever so nicely nutty Nikky has asked whether I would like to be part of a NEW design team for a NEW CHALLENGE BLOG called . . . .

Of course I said "YES" - have you seen who else is on the design team? Look at this bevvy of talented crafting girlie's . . .

Kirsty (Wiseman!)
Ruth (Tip Top)

The 1st challenge will be on 22nd May 2009, so make sure you
mark this date down on your calendar.

Getting excited now and yeah, really happy at being part of this fab DT. Well my Friday has started with a "bang" (!) and I hope yours has too.

Take care,

Funky Fairy Challenge # 16

My goodness, a week has flown by already - I can't believe it ! I say that every week but it is true, "I can't believe where time goes" - I was originally going to say "I can't believe it" but didn't want you guys and girls to think I was a Victor Meldrew in the making . . . 'cos that definitely ain't the case!

Anyhow, I digress (again) and the theme this week over on the Funky Fairy challenge blog is "Flowers & Bling". I really struggled with this one because I really couldn't think of a way to get the 2 to work together - doh! Then I thought "bling filled flower" and that's what I did - actually it was the only idea I could come up with and was starting to irritate myself with my indecisiveness!

Papers: "Ecclectic Lurve" and "Gorgeous Ginghams" from Funky Fairy's Papercrafts
"Bling gems" from £land!
Ribbon from Ribbon Oasis

Had cut all the different layers and edged the petal with "bling gems". Sentiment from SU and centre filled with another "bling gem"! Finished off with some ribbon in pink & silver to add another bling bit to the card. Very simple design which I actually quite like! Can you guess what was even nicer? Using a DL card & not just relying on my favourite shape, square cards.

Don't forget if you want to win a FREE DOWNLOAD from Funky Fairy's Papercrafts, all you have to do is join in with the challenge making sure you use at least one Funky Fairy's product on your project. If you don't have a Funky Fairy papers/kits/toppers etc, sneak over to the Inspiration Blog as Shaz is known to give away bits and bobs !

Hope you are all having a fab week and off to have a serious blog hop now (once I've made myself a coffee!),

Simon Says Challenge

Phew . . . have just made this in time after promising Lorraine I would join in this week ! Sorry for leaving it soooooooooo late Lorraine but got a bit carried away on a birthday present I am making which seemed easy in my head but in real life . . . not so easy!

Any how, the "Simon Says Challenge" this week was to follow a recipe . . . 2 x papers, 1 x ribbon & 3 x buttons . . . but being me, I had to add just a little more; my cute Bella image (rec'd from Kim-Marie) and my buttons have mutated into blooms!

I have used the "Aqualicious" papers from Funky Fairy's Papercrafts which suit this image down to the ground. Well this is a quick post as I need to catch up on my art work. Got to plan for our schools "Art Week" at the beginning of June, (which is on rainbows) and make sure that it is cross curricular !

Happy Tuesday everyone,

ICS Challenge, Card-A-Licious challenge & Flourishes Challenge

Phew, have made this weeks ICS challenge a little sooner than last weeks. Last week I uploaded my card an hour before the deadline! There was a fab sketch this week - clean simple lines so I have tried to keep my card as uncluttered ! ! ! However, had to be a bit awkward and decided to rotate the sketch ! I drew the butterfly and layered it onto white card with wire antennae. The body was made using my SU scalloped punch. I am also entering this card into the Card-A-Licious challenge which I have only just found! They wanted us to use the colours brown & pink and if you could, scallops somewhere.

Papers: Funky Fairy's "Nanna's Wallpaper"
Flowers: Prima, Mulberry & other from stash
Chipboard: Basic Grey

The next challenge I completed was for "Flourishes". I don't have any of their stamps (yet!) but love reading their blog/newsletter. They wanted us to .....

"All you need to do is put your creative hat on and join us in the "His & Hers" challenge!
Since our next release has a little bit for "him" and a little bit more for "her"
- we thought it would be fun to challenge you to use the same card or project layout to make
a "guy" card... and then a card for the gals!"

I loved this idea but wasn't sure where to start - you can never have enough men's cards. I used acetate card blanks which I made & layered the inside with Funky Fairy's "Aqualicious" papers.

Papers: Funky Fairy's "Aqualicious" kit
Stamps: SU birthday set
Coloured with Promarkers

The outside was made using the same papers. The "ladies" card has flowers from the papers which have been 3D with silicone glue. The "mans" card has birthday images from a SU set. Both cards have been stamped along the bottom, "Happy Birthday Today". I love there bright, funky feel !

Off to have a long soak in the bath to take away the smell of gloss from my nose. Got to get in quick because Steve & the boys have been fence building today, so they'll be in soon wanting to shower or bath!

Hope you had a great weekend,

Some awards and blog candy with a difference!

I have been a very lucky person and have received 2 awards recently. The 1st one was from Katie and was really chuffed & proud to receive it from her.

The 2nd award was from Diana who I have only recently met and I just love to visit her blog. Her cards are divine and love her little "one liners"!

Many thanks ladies - feel really privileged.

Now for the blog candy with a difference . . . Sammie, a very cheerful lady with a sunny disposition, (who has overcome much recently) is running the "Race for Life" whilst belly dancing (!) and instead of asking for us to sponsor her, could we please send her a pink (or blue!) card which she will then sell in her local church, with all funds going directly to Cancer Research. Sammie has got together a selection of candy goodies but will add more for every 10 cards she receives . . so pop over to her blog and give her your support. I for one know that I have quite a few cards I could send even though I sell some & give others to local charities, I still have a few floating around!

Have a great Friday and a fab weekend everyone,

I know another card!

WOW on a roll today ! ! ! I suddenly realised that I hadn't joined in with the DU2DS challenge this week which was a sketch. I have to say that unlike the PWC card, this one is definitely cluttered with loads of bits. Hey, I knew that I couldn't keep it simple for too long!

I have used one of Dustin Pike's fab dragon images and have coloured him with my promarkers & I have raised him with lashing of silicone glue ! The dragon looked so lonely on his own in that circle that I quickly doodled a castle as the background: which I have again coloured with my promarkers. The sun was punched out and coloured - yep, with promarkers! The sentiment & cupcakes are from SU which have been raised with silicone glue.

Well better quickly go and enter the challenge now as it runs out tonight ! ! ! Nothing like leaving things to the last minute.

Take care,

Papertake Weekly Challenge

Yep, you've guessed, I am still off work with Aaron so I'm getting the chance to play in a lot of the challenges this week ! Having said that, Aaron is a fab patient and hasn't got to the age yet where he can suffer from "male-i-tous"!

Anyhow loved this sketch on PWC and will definitely use this one again, especially as I am a devil for sticking loads and loads onto a card but this sketch encouraged me to keep things clear & simple - many thanks Dawny.

I have made a slider type card and saw a tutorial for something similar when blog hopping the other day. Unfortunately I can't find the blog again but I know I have saved the tutorial somewhere, so as soon as I find where (!) I will let you all know.

Front view

Pull slider to the left to reveal "Happy"

Pull slider to the right to reveal "Birthday"

The papers are from the NEW "Doodlestar" papers from Funky Fairy's Papercrafts and a "Jim, Just chillin" image from Digi Stamp Boutique. I have coloured Jim with my promarkers. He sooooooo reminds me of my Dad that I had to give him grey/white hair!

Have a great Thursday everyone,

Funky Fairy Challenge #15

WOW - I can't believe that the girlie's over at the Funky Fairy's challenge blog are on week 15 already - where does the time go? Had to give this challenge a go as it's not normally a theme I make straight away, "Get Well Cards".

Papers: "Just a Bit" kit from Funky Fairy's Papercrafts
Embossed card - Papermania
Ribbon from stash

I've gone for a real girlie, flowery card for a change and no stamping in sight - everything was paper pieced! The sentiment I wrote myself as I didn't have a sentiment stamp that suited the theme.

Now if you want to win a fabby Funky Fairy's download for FREE, why not enter the challenge as one lucky randomly picked person wins a download from the shop. I might be biased, but the kits are just great to work with and so simple to download - what more could you want ?!?!?!?

Have a happy Wednesday everyone,

Funky Hand DT Call

Anice over at Funky Hand is looking for more peeps to join her DT team and as a lover of downloadable kits and CD's, I thought I'd give it a whirl.

One of the criteria was to blog some of the favourite things you have made: however this is not as easy as it seems because when I was looking through my photo's, I could of chosen loads ! Saying that, it's not that I love all my stuff, it just that certain projects bring back memories as they were made for a particular person . . . gosh that sounds all gushy and sentimental when it wasn't meant to be ! ! !

Anyhow here are a few of my favourites . . .

I made a picture frame thingy (!) after I rediscovered "Aaron's" name which has been made in wire. We got it in Covent Garden several years ago. Luke has one too, but he would annihilate me if I showed you all - oh the joys of teenagers!

I love this card - can't say why but I really do! I made it for my sister &
brother-in-law last Christmas.

I "LOVE" making notebooks as I am a terrible "lists" person and luckily, one of the teachers I work with is too ! ! This was part of Beth's birthday present.

I made this card using a sketch from a challenge blog but I love the colours. I have made this card (in different shades) loads of times as it fits for any occasion.

Finally, this was my anniversary card to Steve and it was HUGE - just under A4 in size. It had to be that big because I underestimated the size of the rub-on letters ! ! He loved the card and still has it on his desk.

Well that's it but I could of blurbed for a lot longer as there were many projects I would love to share . . . including scrapbook pages . . . I know, don't faint ! but by now you are probably VERY BORED with the waffle.

Take care and maybe we should all do more posts like this because I bet there are loads of things we don't blog but actually we should "crow" about them.

Take care,

Carisma Cardz Challenge plus "totally gobsmacked!"

Yep, I'm totally gobsmacked! Yesterday we spent the day watching Aaron play in a hockey tournament. I was dressed in my sub Arctic gear as I just can't quite shake this cold and although we didn't have that much rain, the day wasn't that bright. Aaron played in nine matches, the last one being the semi-finals (which unfortunately they lost) but his team played like little dynamos running up and down the pitch like "wee possessed things"! It was great to see the true team spirit in full play.

Now back to the gobsmacked thing . . . we got back home about 5ish; not bad considering we left the house at 8am! Aaron was a little flushed but we put that down to all the running around. Well an hour or so later, Aaron's face was still bright red; he said he had an almighty headache and was feeling sick! Yep, the boy got sun burnt or as the Dr pointed out this morning, wind burnt! Decided a trip to the Dr's was the best thing to do as Aaron suffers from eczema and I didn't want to put the wrong thing on his face. The poor little mite is really suffering but after applying the goo the Dr gave me, his face has calmed down considerably and he is asking for food. Definitely on the mend. Well that's a first for this family, so now will have to pack the sun cream whatever the weather to make sure that this doesn't happen again. Steve & I feel soooooooo guilty - at least we now have a valid argument for Aaron as to why we don't go on exotic holidays !!!!

I'm going to change the subject now (to ease my guilt) and show you he card I made for the Charisma Cardz Challenge which was to make a "Thank You" card. Really pleased that this was the theme as it's got me starting to make the plethora of cards I will need for the end of term . . Luke breaks up in 2 weeks because his exams officially begin!

The papers are from the "In with the Old" kit at Funky Fairy's Papercrafts and this design comes in loads of yummy colours. I have used my Serendipity Stamps called "Hydrangea" which looks a Dandelion Clock to me (!) and inked the stamp with my "Berry Rainbow" ink pad from All Night Media. Love the graduated colour on the flowers. I then punched out a semi circle from the topper so that my ribbon knot had somewhere to go . . . got this idea from a card I saw in the recent SU mini catalogue. The sentiment is a Kolette Hall stamp which I have cut up so that the 3 words can be placed in different positions.

I even decorated the inside of the card to match the front including the ribbon and punched out semi-circle. The last word from the sentiment stamp has been placed on the flower on the inside.

Off to pamper my little man and make him a cup of his "it makes me feel better drink" which to you & I is Lucozade!

Have a great Tuesday everyone and thanks for popping by,

ICS challenge

I can't believe it . . . I totally messed up the scheduler thing with this challenge and it was only when I was changing a few bits that I realised that I had scheduled the post to appear NEXT YEAR. Threw me into a bit of a panic as I have quite a few scheduled posts for this blog and other blogs, so got Steve to look at all dates & times to check that I hadn't made the same mistake twice. Luckily he went with the flow; nodded sagely with the odd glance in my direction and checked everything! Phew, no further mishaps . .. !

Anyhow, just got enough time to blog my entry for the ICS challenge this week . . . got to be quick as it runs out at midnight ! I decided to make myself a note book and used the sketch as my inspiration to decorate the front.

Used my Bind-It-All to make the book and the adorable "Sugared" papers from Basic Grey to decorate the front cover. Not sure where the rub-on letters are from, but I think it could be Creative Memories. A little bit of doodling and some extra notes . . . and it's finished! Just don't want to use it now.

Off to make sure my link is in in time,

Did you know . . .. ?

that Shaz at Funky Fairy's Papercrafts is giving away a FREE download called "Boys & Girls"? It is part of a kit that she didn't quite finish but compliments the "Boys 'n' Girls" kit in the shop.

Why not pop over to the Inspiration Blog and get your copy today as the link will not be showing for much longer !

For those of you that are a little scared of downloads . . . please don't be. The files are sent to you in a zipped file and then all you have to do is right click on the folder and go to the section marked "Extract All". Just follow the prompts and hey presto, your file is ready to use and store where you want it ! Sorry if I am preaching to the converted but hey, there maybe someone who doesn't know !

Hope everyone is having a great time and as this post shows, I will either still be sitting on a hockey pitch watching Aaron or just back lounging on the sofa !

Take care,

Funky Fairy meets Secret Crafter

I struggled with the sketch over on the Funky Fairy Challenge blog but I can't quite put my finger on why though. Probably has something to do with the fact that I still feel "pooh" and just couldn't get the elements I wanted to use to gel together. I knew (roughly) what I wanted to do, however I sat at my desk and just faffed about. I was just about to give up when I read the theme for the Secret Crafter's challenge, "Flowers" & as I was endeavouring to make a floral vine thing, it was just the "kick up the bum" I needed to finish my card.

Anyhow, here is my card . . . .

Papers: Funky Fairy's Papercrafts "Ecclectic Lurve" kit
Chipboard vine: Basic Grey
Ribbon: Free with mag
Brads & button from stash

Hoping that it fits now with both challenges as the way my brain is at the moment, I wouldn't be surprised if I forgot something or other !

Why not pop over to both challenge blogs and join in as there are always prizes ! Everytime you join in with a "Secret Crafter" challenge, you are entered into a draw at the end of each month to win a £20.00 voucher to spend at the "Secret Crafter's" shop. At the "Funky Fairy's" challenge blog, you could win a download of your choice from the Funky Fairy shop and there are always loads of Funky Fairy freebies to use over on their Inspiration Blog. Now you haven't got an excuse to join in either of the challenges now, have you ?!?

Hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend & take care,

Secret Crafter challenge

Can't believe it, a great long weekend with good weather and I have a stinking cold! My nose is soooooo sore from blowing it all the time and the lads keep moaning that the house stinks of Albos Oil. I am determined not to sit in and mope around but enjoy my weekend . . . energy depending! We have a busy weekend, so lots of sugary drinks I think - that should keep me "buzzing" around all over the place, (fingers crossed).

The challenge over at "Secret Crafter" is to make shaped cards. Now making shaped cards is something I don't normally do as I suppose I have got stuck in my own rut about the size / shape of cards I like to make, but this was a challenge too good to miss! Please bare with me as I have taken quite a few photo's as I couldn't get all the card in and I wanted to show it off the best I could.

Front view (card fully closed)

Opened card

This card I suppose could be an upside down nappy card (!) or a different-ish envelope style card (!), not sure which category it comes under? I have seen a similar tutorial for this shaped card but it was made using a complete piece of 12" x 12" paper, with lots of folds but mine was made from an A4 card and a wee bit of scoring!

The papers & word toppers are from the "Hanging Around" kit from Funky Fairy's Papercrafts which is such a "lush" and very versatile kit - ideas just flow so easily. The stickers are from Making Memories.

Hope everyone has a great weekend and enjoys their 3 days off work ! I'm off for a bath and then am going to sit in bed with the lappy for a wee bit of blog hopping and also to catch up with "Ashes to Ashes" which I missed earlier in the week.

Take care,
