Shabby Chic Pan Pastel style

The theme this week over on the Premium Craft Brand Pan Pastel Challenge is "Shabby Chic" and I decided to use up papers and embellishments that have been sitting in my stash for eons. They have mainly sat there as they were just "not me" but still too good to be consigned to the bin or taken in to school for the children to use!

Using 2 papers that has stayed in a box for far too long as the colours and design were just "not me", I covered them lightly in Maimeri white acrylic paint with a dry brush (which adds texture). Whilst still damp, went over the papers with Titanium White, Raw Umber and Permanent Red Tint pan pastels. This made the bright pink, floral paper age and become more "shabby chic".

For my image, I took some Raw Umber pan pastel dust, mixed into a watery paste and then with a brush, applied this to my stamps. This created an aged effect to my image without me really having to try. I have then used my pan pastels to colour the edges to further enhance the aged look.I did the same with the sentiment however I also over stamped too. Using a Versamark pad, I covered my stamped imaged, stamped 1st on scrap paper and then on to the sentiment. I very lightly used Permanent Red Tint pan pastel to highlight the stamped image.

Now the flowers were made of a greyish chipboard and I have had them longer than I care to own up to! I coloured the flowers first with pan pastels and then brushed over them with white acyrlic paint using a wet brush this time. This helped break down the paper fibres and made scrunching them much easier as I wanted to create a softer feel to the flowers. I have used a chipboard button for the centre coloured with Raw Umber pan pastel and dry brushed with white acyrlic paint.

The ribbon trims were from my stash as were the die cuts (which were bits of die cut pieces). The lace frill is actually a doily with the centre cut away.

Before I go I must apologise to my DT teamies for the late adding of my project. Work has got in the way of my crafty playing the last few weeks and I thank them for their continue support.

Well the sun is shining and I'm off to have a play in my very neglected garden,

Lou
