Using one ink colour only ....

One of my New Years Resolutions this year is to do more stamping and incorporate it more in to my crafting. Well I say resolution but what I mean is ... one of my New Year challenges to myself is ..... do more stamping. I think as soon as you say "resolution", you just start to find ways to break it or make its completion really hard. So in order not to fall off the "band wagon" as it were, I have set my resolutions to "challenges" ... and so far, so good.

So this week for the Polka Doodles challenge, I have used the fabby "Wonderland" stamp set to create my card.
 Wonderland Rubber Stamp sheet

The doily has been over stamped with the "Queen of Hearts" sentiment and then the sentiment has been stamped seperately. The handcut hearts, border strip and Marianne butterfly diecut have been stamped with the dog-tooth check background and guess what? I have only used one ink colour; Tattered Rose distress ink. Everything has been layered on to a square panel which has inked edges. I have then layered the complete large topper on to the base card, raising it with Pinflair glue gel.

Ribbon Roses: Ribbon Girl
Butterfly:L Marianne dies
Flourishes: unknown as were sent to me
Gems from stash

The card has been further embellished with mica flakes, rose ribbon, gems and silver flourish diecuts. I also stamped out a plate of hearts too for an added embellishment. The 2 hearts have been "tied together" with some white organza ribbon.

I am also entering my card in to the following challenges:

Black and white plus one ....

is this weeks theme over at Crafty Creations Challenges this week and we are sponsored by Becky's Place who kindly gave the DT some images to "play with".

I decided to use the "Happy Birthday" sentiment and make it in to a background paper. I imported the image in to Craft Artist, made a background design and then using the transparency button, made the colour fade. My other colour for this card is pink and I have used elements from the garden section of the Studio 12 Picknix CD .... I have stamped 2 butterfly images; one on to the pink backing paper (hidden by square panel) and one on to the "Happy Birthday" background.

Background: digi image from Becky's Place
Ribbon from stash
Dies: X-Cut large fancy labels, Nellie Snellen scallop square
Bliss sentiment: Serendipity Stamps
Butterfly stamps: Stamps Away, Flutter By set

I had some of my backing paper left over, so made a further card but used blue as my other colour. Again the flower images are from the garden section of the Studio 12 Picknix CD.
I have stamped directly on to the backing panel using stamps that were a freebie with a craft magazine. The larger bird was stamped on to the backing paper and cut out and I have cut a further set of wings to add a 3D effect.

Now I made the original background to fit an A4 page but when it printed out, I forgot to put it on to borderless printing so had some space left on the page. Not wanting to waste any of my paper, I printed out the "Happy Birthday" sentiment "as is" and made this card from it .....
