Monochrome MALEness .....!

Is there such a thing I wonder? This is a quick post from me as lots happening this week and wanted to make sure I got my Polka Doodles Challenge card up in time ....

The theme this week is "monochrome" and I have cheated a little, using the fall back colours of gey and black .....I have used images and papers from the "Not for Girls" CD and tried (!) to create a male themed card. I have even added some mica flakes to highlight the skulls, motorbike lights and the main topper. Card has been finished with some MAN string, MAN skull charm and MAN grommits ... lol

Papers & sentiment: Polka Doodle "Not for Girls" CD
Letraset lettering sheets
String, mica flakes and grommits from my stash

I am entering my card in to the following challenges:

Dilly Beans - metal accents
Stamp'n'Doodle - boy/male theme
Craft Room Challenge - monochrome

Have a great weekend everyone,

Just take two ....

Well this post should of appeared this morning but somehow I managed to make it totally disappear .....! I had scheduled my post but changed the time zone to coincide with Crafty Creations Challenge going live. Well whatever I changed, Blogger did not like. I'm going to blame it on Blogger as it surely it couldn't be me making a hash of it .....

Anyhow the challenge this week over at Crafty Creations Challenge is to make something which features two of something on it .....

I've used two different embossing folders (Swiss dots and hearts), 2 chipboard elements (heart and flower), 2 different papers, 2 yellow embellishments (my sun & door) and 2 clouds! Loads of twos on my card . . . lol

Papers: can't remember but they were part of a kit
Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder
Sizzex hearts folder
Sentiment found in a drawer!

Off to warm up now as it's freezing and I just can't seem to get warm.

Happy Birthday Nikky, Nacky, Noo, Noo .....

Yep, she from PD Towers decided to try and keep her birthday secret ...... like as if that's going to happen in todays social networking world .... such foolishness from one so mature !!!

Anyhow, knowing that Nikky has a love of owls, I decided to make her a lickle owl bag as a pressie so she can stuff it with whatever her heart desires .....! I have made a birthday card using the cute owl from the "Daisy Doodles" stamp set  (the background too was made using the same stamp set), to try and match the bag material I used and here is what I came up with ....

The bag:

The card:

I just hope she liked them and can forgive me about my mature jibe .... well all she has to remember is that I am slightly more maturer than her! Also, fingers crossed that the dandruff flakes that have been falling haven't caused any delay to their arrival ...

Happy Birthday chick-a-deeeeeeeee,

Lou

Well that was the dilemma I had this week when making my Studio 12 project .... went to print out my papers and embellishments only to find my printer telling me in no uncertain terms "NO way" . To say I then went in to crafting melt down was an understatement and had a headless chicken moment. Off I went to see what I had spirited away from  previous projects which turned out to be very little. So taking a deep breath finally came up with this ...

My card is very simple with an embossed hearts background and using a grouped image I had previously made in Craft Artist using "All Sewn Up" embellishments from the Studio 12 Picknix collection. However the only paper I had left was several squares and I didn't want to just matt and layer them so, I turned them in to chevrons instead! They are so easy to make and I think look so effective.

Cut the papers in to smaller squares - mine were 2cm x 2cm. Then cut in half diagonally ....

Now plan out your chevron design and where possible don't match the design up ...!

I put the black bands on to add another layer and not for any other reason. With hindsight, I should of stitched the chevrons in place to match the sentiment ....

I am also entering my card in to the following challenges:

Less is more - friends
Card Crafters Circle - layers
Daring Card Makers - embossibilities
Totally Papercrafts - embossing
Little Red Wagon - repeated shapes
Pile It On - have a heart

This is a great way to use up your paper scraps, although slightly time consuming but isn't it great to try something different every now and then? So what will you do with your scraps today?

Now for my card I have used the gorgeous FREE Emma Canning Cupcake image (which can be found HERE) and coloured her with Promarkers ..... which I haven't used for ages and actually had a "aaarrrgggghhhhh"moment as couldn't remember "how do you colour with these?!?!?" Getting back on the swing of things ....

Well it's been a long time (again) since my last post but things were hectic (again) for a while but now I am determined to have some more "ME" time in 2013 and where possible ask for more help from my family and work colleagues rather than trying to accomplish everything on my own .... too hard, stressful and unrewarding.

Well it's Wednesday which means its Crafty Creations Challenge and the theme this week is "Something New". This could be use a new craft goodie, try a new technique or even try a new style. I've gone for using some new crafting goodies which I was given over Christmas .... Kaisercraft papers .... uuummm so divine .....

Papers: KaiserCraft, Sweet Nothings
Gems, heart buttons and ribbon from stash
Sentiment: freebie found on the internet and I forgot to record the site name
Flowers:  Wild Orchard Crafts
Beaded circle nesties die
Tattered Rose distress ink

Here is a close up of the sentiment which I found whilst trawling the internet the other night on my new Christmas present from my lovely and generous sons ..... a Galaxy Tablet .... but rather silly, forgot to take a note of the sight I got the sentiment from, so if anyone can help, please let me know in the comments section, so I can credit the person who created the sentiment.

Now that I've made the card, not 100% sure I like it as it's a little over crowded (I think) but I had great fun making it so can ignore the "dislike" button in my head .... lol

I am also entering my card in to the following challenges:

Craft Your Passion - vintage/shabby chic
Creative Creations Challenges - anything goes
Kaboodle Doodles Challenges - vintage/shabby chic
Use your stuff - use a circle

Have a great week everyone and I'm off to get back in to my crafting and to catch up on my blogging. I have so missed hopping from blog to blog, reading about how people have created their projects and then, looking up the products people have used so I can then possibly .... maybe .... or definitely add them to my existing crafting stash!
