Oh my, thanks goodness it's Friday!

It's been a long week an nothng I planned to do as gone right as I have been everywhere and anywhere this week .... literally!!! I have now decided to just go with the flow and give up on my "to do" lists and any other activity I had planned .... less stressful!

The challenge this week over at Polka Doodles is "Fairy and Fnantasy" and I stretched the fairy theme a little with my card as I have used one of the gorgeous Christmas fairy (okay .... angel) stamps for my card (released for last Christmas). I sooooooooo wanted to use this stamp and she does look fairy like, doesn't she? A simple embossed background (Tim Holtz) which I have inked with distress inks, some ribbon offcut, glittered leaves, paper off cuts from Pretty Sweet CD and  Doodle Dew Drops. The images was stamped with Walnut distress ink and then water coloured with Walnut and Rose Pink distress inks.

I am entering my card in to the following challenges:
Polka Doodles - Fairy & fantasy
Holly Jolly Christmas - BINGO (red, free, ribbon)
Make My Monday - red, cream and green
Crafty Creations - embellish it!

Happy Friday everyone and I for one, am glad to se it arrive,

Lou

Studio 12 Picknix CD

I simply adored the fact that Nikky (Polka Doodles) had added cutting files to Studio 12 Picknix so simply had to use them when I made some samples for her. So I dusted off my CraftRobo and got started using this cutting file from the "Welcome Home" digi kit ...

I just loved the tumbling hearts effect and thought that they would make a great background or even a mask to use to create an embossing technique. I imported the image in to my CraftRobo software, copied and pasted the hearts 3 more times, overlaid them, merged/welded them together to create a complete background and here's the card I made using this background ....

I have layered 2 of the lush roses papers on top of each other to create my background and then placed the hearts on top. I have secured the hearts in place with a frame (printed on to Safmat) and a band across my card .....

The frame and sentiment were printed on to Safmat and then I used them on the matching papers to keep some continuity and also to show what you can do with just 2 papers! The band was made using some jute ribbon and one of the paper designs, finished off with some flowers and the sentiment.

I then used the hearts, which were left over from the background, inked the edges and placed then randomly around the cut out hearts background (another sneaky way of securing the background too!).

Products used:
Studio 12 Picknix CD (Polka Doodles shop)
Safmat (Polka Doodles shop)
Rambling Rose distress ink (Polka Doodles shop)
Jute ribbon (bought from local florist)
Pin Flair glue gel (Polka Doodles shop)

Can't wait to see how you now use your cutting files on your Studio 12 projects. Don't forget to pop over to the Studio 12 blog to see lots of Studio 12 yumminess,

Happy Father's Day ....

Well we're having a chilled and relaxed day today which is just what we all needed! Last night me and 1200 other peeps did a 10k midnight walk in aid of a local hospice. It was great fun and went a lot quicker than I thought it would too. There ere 16 of us in the group I was walking with walking on behalf of one of the ladies hubbies who was diagnosed and died within 6 weeks. Considering the circumstances, everyone was upbeat, dressed up and having a great time; made even better as it didn't rain .... ! It was a real hoot though when the pubs turned out and we were escorted at times by some very "tipsy" peeps ......

I have been having a play with some bits and bobs yesterday and here is one of the cards I made

Papers: Websters Pages
Marianne Designs decorative panel and butterfly dies
Flowers: Wild Orchard
Butterfly stamps: Stamps Away
Ribbon, beading & buttons from my stash
Sentiment is a rub-on from ... unknown

I used up things that were on the table from previous projects and it made a change to use yellow in my card; not normally a colour I gravitate to first. This was a quick and simple card an used up loads of my "bits" which saved me having to tidy up before dinner!

Well I'm off to put the kettle on, put dinner in the oven and come back for a good nose around as desperately need a relaxed Sunday as next week is going to be hectic!

Gosh I blink and 3 weeks have nearly passed!!!

WOW .... didn't realised that it has been so long since I last blogged. Loads happening still but at least their is a slight light at the end of the tunnel although this is sadly tinged with the fact that my F-i-Ls demencia is worse than even we thought ..... it's made worse by how well he looks and it is hard to believe that he had a serious heart attack and was in Harefield Hospital for 2 weeks.

Well as a great "brain break" I had the lush new CD from Polka doodles to play with ... Studio 12 Picknix.

OOOhhhh it is so much fun to play with and I used in Craft Artist. Everything was easy to add and use. I did think at first that I would struggle as I'm not a fan of digi scrap booking as I love a raised element to my projects but Nikky has designed the CD to be used either as a digi project or as a hybrid project. Now I have to say I am well and truly hooked and can't wait for the next CD. Here is one of my DT cards for the CDs launch on C&C ....

The CD comes with cutting files and I have used the hearts from the "Welcome Home" section. Copied and paste 3 times and then welded all the hearts together to create a huge background. I then cut this out on my CraftRobo. All the papers are from the same section on the CD too.

Here is a close up of the hearts background and I have used some of the heart shapes to add further dimension (after a little inking). The frame was printed onto Safmat, placed on to some of the backing paper and then cut out.

Flowers and ribbon are from my stash. The sentiment was also printed on to Safmat and layered on to one of the papers.

Hope you get a chance to have a play with this fab kit,

Lou
