Sketch Saturday really inspired me !

Loving this weeks sketch at Sketch Saturday, really inspired me to make 2 cards. I was struggling for ideas as they were both for the "male species" and they can be so tricky to make and not look naff! Well I always think my cards for the men & boys look naff but actually like these 2 !

I have (selectively) ignored the little extra bits on the strip element as couldn't think of what to add to them to keep with my theme.

Card number 1: "My brother is . . . "

Papers: MME Bloom & Grow papers
Image: High Hopes (I think)
Words: Imaginisce rub ons

I am also entering this card into the following challenges:

Sketch Saturday - used their sketch!
Creative Inspirations - recycle an object on your project. I have used a piece of cardboard packaging and the twine is also reused from a recent package I received.

Card number 2: "Built Tough . . . to party hard!"

Papers: MME Bloom & grow papers
Image: Sticker I kept which was supplied with hamster cage (from 3 years ago) !!!
Words: Imaginise rub ons

I am also entering this card into the following challenges:

Sketch Saturday - used their sketch!
JUGS - Howdy Partners
Creative Inspirations - recycle an object on your project. I have used the sticker which was meant to be used on the hamsters cage . . . who has subsequently gone to "hamster heaven" ! The twine is also reused and was on a recent package I received.

Well gotta dash as have some boring housework related chores to do . . . yuk, yuk and yuk!

!st of a few posts today !

I am in the middle of decorating but took a break yesterday as I was getting sick and tired of all the "STUFF" I had to sort through! I mean . . how much "STUFF" do we need to keep ?!?!?

My first card is for "Fab'n'Funky" Challenges and the theme this week is "Flower Power". Great, quick & easy challenge and we have a FAB sponsor too who makes the most wicked flower embellishments. I have "cased" one of my own cards from a while back as I just loved how it turned out the first time around! I know . . how vain ! ! !

Stamps: Doodle for Daniel by Stamping Bella
Sentiment: Stampin' Up
Papers: DCWV & Funky Fairy
Swirl background: SU stamping wheel

I am also entering my card into the following challenges:

The Pink Elephant
- ribbon and sparkle
Everybody Art Challenge - theme is "in the garden"
Colour Throwdown - sky, chocolate chip, kraft and celery. OK have to admit, if you click onto the photo you can see the green elements on the DP used for the flowers . . . I promise !
Stamptacular Sunday Challenge - bow & buttons. The pearl centres of the flowers are actually buttons !

Happy Wednesday everyone and off to o another post . . . !

Simply "Colourific!"

You would of thought that this weeks Fab'n'Funky Challenge would be an easy one . . . make a project using your favourite colours . . . but I have really struggled. I have stamped and coloured over 30 images this week; using different mediums to colour them all and still can't work out what my favourite colour blends are ! In desperation, I have made this card taking the colour inspiration from the papers . . .

Papers: MME - Quite Contrary
Image & sentiment: Babsie Fairy from Polka Doodles
Other bits are from my stash

Now whilst I like this colour combo, I wouldn't say it is my favourite . . . I think it's gotta be said that I like ALL colour blends . . . yep, I took the cowards way out! The only FAB thing from this exercise is that I now have oodles and oodles of coloured images ready to go . . . just got to remember to use them !

Here is a close up of Babsie and loving her attitude! I coloured her with Sakura Gelly Roll pens which I haven't had out to "play" for a long time . . . eeek . . . another "must remember to use" moment !

Gotta dash as off to be "Mother's unpaid taxi" this morning,

Recycling is so therapeutic!

Last week we received something through the post and it was wrapped in all this corrugated card. I was over the moon with the stuff . . . although my family were not sure why . . . and it set my crafty ideas flowing! The string was also used to secure the corrugated card. The large felt flower was a great find: I found it hiding in a book I am reading (bought from the Oxfam Bookshop) . . . the previous owner must of used it as a bookmark! It comes in 3 layers, so I have prised it apart and can now use 2 other flowers for other projects . . . this recycling thing is just FAB !

Anyhow whilst blogging at the beginning of the week (when I had internet !), I popped over to one of my fav challenge blogs, 2S4U and have used this weeks sketch to make my card . . . with all my recycled goodies!

The main image is from a new line of stamps recently released by Nix over at Polka Doodles . . . Prim Angel and she is a dream to colour (I've used my Promarkers). This FAB paper is from the new Creative Christmas CD and comes in loads of great colours; will definitely be using more of this on my Christmas cards this year. All the hearts are hand drawn and then inked around the edges.

I am also really, really pleased to have found a use for my Whispers Ink Pads which were given to me eons ago. I never found that they worked that well giving un-crisp images and/or text, so they have been sitting in a drawer gathering dust. Anyhow I bought a new sheet of "Cut 'n' Dry" (felt version) and the ink pads have become good for inking around card edges of my card and paper; they are dry ink pads so they don't flood the felt . . . yet another form of recycling ?!?!?!

I am entering my card into the following challenges:

2S4U
- have used this week sketch
Cupcake Craft Challenge - theme this week is "distressing"
Moving Along with the Times - "Christmas"
Creative Inspirations Challenge - theme is RECYCLING !

Have a great Saturday everyone and I'm off to play with my yummy goodies I received from Letraset in the week . . . well have to make them a "Thank You" card at least !

Gggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr !

My internet has been really playing up for the last 48 hours and we have had no service, slow service or intermittent service. The company have been next to useless and I felt much better yesterday after speaking to someone in Customer Services and politely venting my frustration. I try not to lose my temper with the poor person who answers the phone in Customer Services Department as it isn't their fault . . . but still needed them to know how I felt . . . especially as I have pay to call them !

Anyhow, I'll stop as I can feel the steam coming to my ears AGAIN. The internet is still playing up so have nipped to a friends house and borrowed their PC so that I could get my Polka Doodles DT card blogged in time ! We had a great sketch to follow this week as it really allowed you to go with the flow with it.

For my card all the elements and papers are from the "Not for Girls" CD and I am soooooooo in love with this image . . . in fact I want Nix to give me permission to go to a photography shop and get it blown up really, really large! I have printed the image off several times in different colours and then using one image only, have used the other images to add random bits of colour, layering wherever felt good for me! The lickle tickets are also on the CD and make a great alternative embellie.

Iam also entering my card into the following challenges:

Cute Card Thursday - theme is "whateva"!

Well better dash as I don't want to overstay my welcome as you never know when I'll need to use my friends PC again.

"Spotty, dotty and stretchy stripes!"

. . . is the theme of this weeks "Fab'n'Funky Challenge". It's not an opportunity for me to show you all my aged skin with all it's blemishes and gorgeous silvery grey stretch marks . . . that's even too scary for me to contemplate !

I have used a great digi image from Elizabeth @ Softpencil for my card and the yummy MME free papers given away in Cardmaking and Papercrafts (Issue 81).

Papers: MME Papers - Quite Contrary
Image: Softpencil
Punches : SU and Martha Stewart
Ribbon: from stash
Sentiments: Letraset rub-on lettering (various)

A quick and simple card and in real life it looks so bright and fresh . . . naff photography skills on my behalf . . . one day I will master the art of taking a fab photo of my work . . . obviously not just yet ! I am really pleased with the sun image as I have just layered some punches (Stampin' Up) and then used the loops from a Martha Stewart punch to add the suns rays . . . will definitely try this again but might make a flower next time !

I am also entering this card into the following challenges:

"Fab'n'Funky Challenge" - "Spotty, dotty and stretchy stripes
Papertake Weekly - "White and Bright" . . . not brave enough to use predominately white but hey, another idea for my technique book.
Incy Winsy Designs - "Summer Fun"
Creative Card Crew - "Cute and Girly" - I think that my card fits this theme . . doesn't it ?!?!?

Have a great day everyone and I am completely indulging myself today but putting my feet up and catching up properly with the blogging world . . . sooo many project to look at and techniques to write down in my little book !

Blogging with a baby!

I am sitting here, typing one handed with my adorable 4 week old nepew. I have surprised myself at how quickly I'm getting this post done but won't be writing much folks ! Phew, I hear you cry. Also before I forget, apologies for the photo . . I took the card with me to Wales as simply ran out of time at home but only just remembered (as I was preparing to upload) that this laptop can't edit photos . . . . so this card is in it's rare beauty mode . . . hee, hee, hee!

Image: Some Odd Girl
Papers: Mag freebie
Ribbon & button froim stash
Sentiment: my own dotty handwriting!

The theme at "Fab'n'Funky" challenges this week was "Buttons and Bows" and the lucky DT were allowed to use an image from this weeks sponsor . . Some Odd Girl. I chose this monster one and have added extra eyelashes to her ! The papers are a freebie from a mag as I a while ago I was moaning about the free papers and afterwards thought my criticism might be a little harsh, so decided to have a play. This is why my monster is as brightly coloured as she is because I took inspiration from the papers.

I am also entering my card into the following challenges:

Simon Says - going dotty.

OMG . . not blogged for sooooooooo long!`

Nearly died of shock when I saw the date of the last time I blogged . . . eeekkkkk, gulp and whoops! In my defence I have been extremely busy and haven't had a spare moment to myself however, now that school has broken up (HUGE yippee!) I can get down to some serious R&R and also give my crafting stash a glimpse of the daylight . . . !

Well I did want to share my Fab'n'Funky project but my camera is kaput and I am waiting for my old camera to charge up so I can use that instead, so I am going to begin by sharing my DT cards for the Polka Doodles challenge this week . . ooohhhh, should add photographed a while ago before NEW camera decided it no longer liked me!

The theme this week is "Christmas in July" and was set by the lovely Kris. I have made an easel card using the new Paper Boutiques 2 CD, Creative Christmas for all the elements for my card.

The Candy Shop image comes in various sizes and I have printed the image, plus decoupage layers, in A4 and then used the layered image on an 8" x 8" card. The edging was created using my Martha Stewart punch . . . (hint, hint Nikki . . when is the loops corner punch coming back into stock ?!?!?) . . . I have created snow layers from torn card and highlighted the edges with the Baby Blue Promarker. You will even notice that the "Glitter Phobe" as actually used glitter on her card . . . OK a smidgen of the stuff but hey, small steps and all that.

Ooooohhhhh before I forget, you must pop over to the Polka Doodles blog to checkout the MEGA competition that is occurring right now . . you can win the entire set of AquaMarkers from Letraset @ a RRP of £79.99. These are the new and improved AquaMarkers.

Well off to refill my coffee mug and catch up with everyone . . . I have missed so much that I think this will take me a while . . . am I bothered . . . no!

Boy, oh boy am I looking forward to the summer holidays as I will need them to catch up with myself! Now onto this weeks theme at Fab'n'Funky Challenges which is "Sew and Sew" . You can use faux or real stitching or alternatively, sew something onto your project.

I went for faux stitching and then I have sewn the buttons onto my flowers. All the papers and elements are from the "All around and everywhere" CD from Polka Doodles. I made the card shape by drawing around a dinner plate and then punching out a whole load of circles to make my scallops.

I am also entering my card into the following challenges:

Simon Says - theme is "friends"
C.R.A.F.T - colour combo this week of black, lime green & lilac

I hope to have a quick catch up on Saturday and will visit as many peeps as possible but please forgive me if I don't leave you a comment . . . not sure I could fit it all in!

Polka Doodles

Thought I'd spend some time on here catching up with blogging buddies and realised that my post only shows my card . . . whoops !

I am also entering my card into the following challenges:

One Stop Craft Challenge: theme is "one for the boys"
Creative Craft Challenges: theme is "for the man in your life" . . . one of the men in my life is still my Daddy!

Back off to catch up with you all now . . . take care . . . ,

ICS #70

Sorry for my leave of absence but have been "nurse mum" for the last week or so. Aaron (youngest son) managed to hurt his neck after a friend gave him a massage ! ! He went into school & told his friends that his neck hurt because he must of slept funny, so 1 friend kindly offered to massage it for him. Apparently they carefully put they're arms around his neck, squeezed & pulled, he heard a click and felt a hot sensation running up his neck ! ! So after a while (!) in A&E, we were issued loads of painkillers & a selection on heat pads. Aaron has literally been doped up to his eyeballs which has given him a false sense of security & mobility . . . but thankfully he is now on the mend . . . but not quick enough for him to represent the school at high jump on Thursday.

Now this week sketch over at Inspirational Card Sketches (ICS) is another great one from Dawn and I have used it to make another Father's Day card . . .

All the papers and elements are from Polka Doodles "Paper Boutique" CD. The CD has a great selection of templates, papers, embellies and loads more. Just a bit of matting / layering and my card came together rather quickly. Just hope it's manly enough now . . . lol !

I am also entering my card into the following challenges:

C.R.A.F.T Challenges - Father's Day
Creative Craft Challenges - "for the man in your life"

Well before I go, I thought I'd share my ICS card from last week and I used Dawn's sketch to make a Christmas Card ! ! ! My 1st Christmas card for 2010 . . . might be organised this year . . you never know !

No DP on this card, all stamped backgrounds, which have been inked and chalked. The flowers (poinsettia) have also been stamped, layered & finished with a glitter centres. For this card, I have used the "Christmas Doodles" stamp set from Polka Doodles.

Take care everyone and hoping to catch up . . . I know, I say that and never do but promise this week . . . promise . . ,

Yep it was me again . . .

. . . who set the challenge over at Polka Doodles. The challenge I decided to set everyone this week is to create a "Modern/Retro" themed anniversary card as hubby and I are celebrating 20 years of wedded bliss on 9th June ! ! ! We like to think that we still fit into that category (modern, retro & hip) although I think the kids might strongly disagree !!!

All the papers and digi toppers (or stampies as Nix likes to call them) are from the new "All around and Everywhere" CD and I have followed this week
2S4U sketch to start me off (as it were!) I have also used my Stampin Up and Martha Stewart punches to create the decorative edges.

Now the sentiment is a mixture of Letraset rub-ons, alphabet stamps & some lime green rub-ons (sorry, don't know the company as they weren't in their original packaging). The card is also quite big; 8" x 8" so hopefully hubby will be able to spot it!

I am also entering my card into the following challenges:

2S4U - followed this weeks sketch
Digital Tuesday Challenge - they want us to "get trendy" and I have chosen "Kitch Retro" as my trend.
A Spoon Full of Sugar - to make a celebration card

Have a great Friday everyone and I am off for a LONG blog hop. I have missed out on all the gossip and fab projects everyone has made so need to sort this out ASAP ! lol x

Whoops . . the one that got away!

Unfortunately life conspired against me last week with family matters plus training courses and I forgot to "blog" my Polka Doodles card but what makes this worse is that I set the challenge ! ! ! So many apologies to the lovely Polka Doodlers over at PD Towers. Now the challenge was called . .
"Sew and Sew"

which is pretty self-explanatory really. I made a HUGE 8" x 8" card for a friends birthday and new straight away what I wanted to do as I had inspiration from ICS with sketch #26 (which I have rotated 90' clockwise) . . .

I have used papers from the new CD "All around & Everywhere" to create my patchwork background and also my multi-layered flower, (which was finished with a pearl effect button I found in a drawer at my Dad's house!)

I have used several different edging punches from SU and Martha Stewart. The heart was hand cut, distressed a little & chalked the edges. Finally card finished with some chiffon ribbon. The word has been made using Letraset rub ons and you will definitely be seeing more of these as I found a box full crammed chocker with oodles & oodles of sheets that I had forgotten I had . . how could I forgotten these !?!?!
Sorry, you've got 3 photo's of the same card as I am still playing with my new camera and because I liked elements of all the photo's (but didn't prefer one photo over the other), I am sharing all with you . . . lol x

So as a quick summary, here are the challenges I am entering my card into:

Polka Doodles - "Sew and Sew"
Inspirational card Sketches - to pick any old sketch we loved and re-use it. I have chosen sketch #26
Creative Craft Challenges - theme is "Ribbon and Bows"
Charisma Cardz Challenges - to use flowers on our cards.

Happy Thursday everyone and I'm off to cut the grass before it gets too warm . . yep, I said it . . too warm !

Has it worked?

Now fingers crossed I will have scheduled this correctly this week and sent my post to another year or millennia !

I made this card for a work colleague who is . . . can you guess how old? Hee, hee, hee! I have followed Dawn's fab sketch from Inspirational Card Sketches (ICS#67) and for me, this card is very simple!

ICS are sponsored by Meljens Designs this week and we were kindly sent a digi image to play with! I have coloured him with my Promarkers with a few subtle white gel pen highlights. I do not know where the paper comes from as it was in my scraps box and was just the bright enough (without being too bright) for this card.

Apologies for the poor picture. I have mastered the focus on the focal point bit now but that's meant everything in the background is now slightly blurred. Me thinks a little more practice is still (desperately) required!

Have a great Tuesday everyone and can't wait to see what you guys & gals make with Dawn's sketch.

Scheduled posts and

. . . me are definitely not a marriage made in heaven! I had been such a good girl this week and scheduled both my Inspirational Card Sketches (ICS) and Fab'n'Funky DT cards to appear on the correct days as I knew I was very busy Tuesday and Wednesday this week. So, I gets in from work, potters around doing some domestic chores, makes food for the family and then thought, "large coffee and off for a blog".

What happens when I get on here . . . no posts . . . where are my Tuesday and Wednesday posts? I know I did them as I spent a while titivating them and dazzling you all with my witty banter (no comments there please!). Cheesed off to say the least but I did discover where they are . . . I hadn't checked the date correctly or should I say typed the date in correctly and my scheduled posts appeared last year ! ! ! I know, what a complete and utter numpty! I promise you all that when I teach I am definitely more "switched on" and not as dis-organised as this . . . !

OK here is now 2 posts squished into one . . .

Inspirational Card Sketches

Another great sketch from Dawn and I had great fun playing with some printed paper scraps I found whilst tidying up this week. A little over stamping and a few embellishments and my card is finished. I actually love the aged look to this card with minimal effort!

Fab'n'Funky Challenges

This weeks challenge is called "metal mania" and you can use anything metal/metallic on your project. I have used a large gold metal paper clap and some gold bradlets.

I have used the new 2S4U sketch as my inspiration for this card which is for a work colleague who has recently had a little girl. I couldn't put the baby's name on the card because they have yet to agree on an a name !

The image is from Di's Digi Designs who is this weeks sponsor on Fab'n'Funky. I love this cute baby and it is so quick and easy to colour.

I am also entering my card into the following challenges:

2S4U - sketch used for my card
Passion for Promarkers - theme this weeks is "Strawberries and Cream"
Little Red Wagon - to use brads . . . well mine are bradlets so I hope that counts!

Well gonna now dash and catch up with me blogging. Take care,

Lou

YIPPEE !

I've finally got my computer back and in full working order ! It has been hard trying to snaffle PC time from family and friends as you feel that you are over stepping their generosity if you then sit on THEIR PC for ever and a day! I have not been able to print off a digi images or use any of my down loadable paper sets or alternatively any of my CDs. However, this time has made me realise how much I do enjoy rubber stamping and I have had a good play with my "rubbah!"

Well I have 3 cards to share with you all for each of my DT positions and apologies to everyone for being so late posting them. It's OK me saying I've got my PC back but what has taken the time getting on here is all updates I have had to install . . . eek!

1st card: Inspirational Card Sketches

Dawn gave us all a sketch and then a colour combo. We were also allowed to chose a digi image from this weeks sponsor "Some Odd Girl". I found it hard to use all the colours in my card (from colour combo) as I already had a pre-arranged idea (in my head!) of the card I wanted to make . . . sorry Dawn . . .

I used the "pig flying" digi image which I printed onto several "dotty" papers. Doodled some clouds and a sentiment . . . and this card came together very quickly.

I am also entering my card in to the following challenges:

Simon Says - "Happy Birthday"
DU2DS - theme is "anything goes" this week
Digital Tuesday - theme is "A Toast to You". Our projects are to feature food (my pig!!) or drink !
Allsorts - would like us to use an animal

2nd card: "Fab 'n' Funky" challenges

"Fab 'n' Funky" are sponsored again by Elizabeth from Softpencil this week and I chose to work with the cute mermaid digi image for my card. I have also used the great sketch from the Just Us Girls Challenge blog.

The theme over at "Fab 'n' Funky" is to "show us your fancy edges!" so I used my new Martha Stewart punch (cheers Nikky), my scalloped punch and finally some tearing for all my "edges".

I am also entering my card into the following challenges:

Simon Says - "Happy Birthday"
DU2DS - theme is "anything goes" this week

3rd card: Polka Doodles

The theme this week over at Polka Doodles towers is "Summer Blossom" and because I have had no PC, I chose to use the fabby "Daisy Doodles" stamp set to create my card.

The card was finished with some chiffon ribbon, a few gems and a smigen of Liquid Pearls.

Right . . .have got to dash as I now need to print off reams of my school stuff which I couldn't access either and I am now way behind on my art planning and my weekend is also busy . . . not going to stress, not going to stress . . . !

Hope to catch up with everyone on Sunday as I am off to Warwick tomorrow on the start of the University visiting season !

Something different for me ! !

Ruth, fellow Polka Doodles DT buddie decided this week that no cards were to be made for this weeks Polka Doodles challenge . . . yep, we had to alter something ! I sat for ages wondering what to do and was becoming quite fustrated as nothing I wanted or needed as gift etc was springing to mind, so I decided to distract myself by making my challenge cards for ICS and Fab'n' Funky . . . and blow me down an idea jumped up and bit me !

I have altered this humble, non-descript CD

to house my fab new Fairy Flutterby stamps and as I was using the "Babsie" set, I started there first . . .

CD front cover

I have used the original packaging and also stamped some additional images. A bit of matt & layering and voila, c'est fin ! Babsie is one of 6 Fairy Flutterby's and although she is shown with her fairy wings, they are actually a butterfly ! ! ! Babsie and butterfly are spearate stamps so it's upto you how you use them.

Inside covers

On the reverse of the front cover I have made a wallet to keep all my stamped images or made toppers. The other side holds my stamps, safely sandwiched between 2 sheets of acetate. The following photo's are different views of the inside of the CD.

This photo shows the "topper wallet".

Close up of my "topper wallet".

Another inside view !

Finally here is a close up of the gorgeous Babsie . . isn't she adorable? Love the "what me" expression on her face and I have coloured her with my promarkers.

Now just got to do several other CD's for my other Fairy Flutterby stamps and have discovered some empty DVD cases . . they would be perfect for the bigger stamps sets I have . . I see a plan formatting here ! !

I am also entering my "altered CD" into the following challenges:

Charisma Cardz Challenges - to make something girly and to use flowers
Cute Card Thursday - the theme is "Make your own". Well I have made my own stamp storage system ! How posh does that sound ?!?
Papertake Weekly Challenge - their theme is to do something different and I think my CD definitely qualifies !

Have a great weekend everyone. My throat infection is finally re-acting to the antibiotics and the pain is subsiding . . . yippee! It's Bank Holiday weekend in the UK which means . . . RAIN !

A quick post . .

. . . as am using eldest son's PC as mine is till poorly ! The "unwelcome visitors" have been packed off home and the process of recovering everything now begins ! ! It's such a pain as everything I need for home and school is on my PC . . my external hard drive was also effected and I am furious ! It would appear that the deep clean all our laptops, external hard drives and memory sticks got after the schools computers were very badly infected, was next to useless - what a waste of money and what's worse is that we've all been using all these perifials back in school, so no doubt we've reinfected the schools computers ! The cynic in me wonders if the company concerned may have planned this to get more work . . . whoops that's casting aspersions . . . tut, tut, tut!

Well enough of my whinging, onto my post and had better be quick as Luke won't be happy that I've sneaked on ! ! ! I have several card to share with you today for different challenges and apologies to all my DT buddies for my lateness in posting and joining in. Also photo's are a little bit iffy as still playing with my new camera . . . holding camera and reading instruction book at the same time, doesn't work ! lol

* * * * * * * * * * * * *

Inspirations Card Sketches - I really struggled with this weeks sketch and just didn't know what to do with the side bits . . bizarre I know but eventually came up with this card . .

I have used the stunning new ingenious stamps sets from Polka Doodles. I have used
"Maggie" Fairy Flutterby. The clever thing is that Maggie's wings are actually a butterfly . . you stamp both images out and then overlap (if you want) to create Maggie the fairy. I have decided to have both separate for my card.

I am also entering my card to the following challenges:

A Spoon Full of Sugar - 3D something
Creative Craft Challenges - blooming marvellous
Charisma Cardz Challenges - to make something girly and to use flowers
Allsorts Challenge Blog - photo inspiration challenge

* * * * * * * * * * * * *

Fab 'n' Funky Challenges - The challenge this week was to use "No DP !" and I had great fun playing with my stamps. I have made my background using the butterfly stamp with my Versa Fine clear pad and then colouring with chalks.

Originally I wanted to use a Dustin Pike image for an upcoming "male" card (I know I swore), but as my PC is sick, had to rethink my card and have used another of the Fairy Flutterby stamps sets, "Maxine". Loving this girls attitude . . .go girl ! I also used the great sketch over at the Passion for Promarkers challenge blog.

Craft Creations Challenges - to make your own backgrounds
Passion for Promarkers - follow sketch and make your own flowers
A Spoon Full of Sugar - 3D something
Allsorts Challenge Blog - photo inspiration challenge

* * * * * * * * * * * * *

Phew, thinks that's all and my quick post as turned into a rather long one . . sorry but wanted to make sure I got everything on as not sure when I'll be allowed to go online again ! ! Parting teenagers from their PCs is a nasty, tricky business !

Take care,

Lou

"Get it all out" for a sketch ! ! !

Well, I wanted to make my blog post title interesting for once rather than writing "a card for . . . " so I have joined two challenge themes together to make my title. What do you think?

Now the sketch I followed was another great one from Dawn over at Inspirational Card Sketches (ICS) and was just the thing I needed to make a "Thank You" card for my parents for a wonderful weekend away.

and I "Got it all out" for this weeks "Fab'n'Funky" challenge which asked us to use our neglected stash. I have used some paper scraps I had kept (just in case): discovered chipboard embellies that I have had for eons; finally, I found 2 packets of the most wonderful Hero Arts flowers that I hadn't even opened . . . scandalous!

I am also entering my card into the following challenges:

Simon Says Challenge - "Things with wings"
One Stop Craft Challenge - "Things with wings"
Little Red Wagon - to use ruffles - I have used the gold organza ribbon, ruffled it and stapled the ribbon to my card.

Have a great week everyone and am off to finish catching up with you all. I did start on Sunday and then became distracted with all the great cards etc and the really cool links to tutorials . . . before I knew it I had bookmarked oodles of new blogs and written down loads of new techniques I want to try . . . isn't blog land cool !?!?!

Take care,

Lou

Double edged sword day !

What I mean to say is "yippee" it's Friday and we're off celebrating with my Dad and the whole family this weekend but. . . it also means that the Easter holidays are now over and it's back to school on Monday . . . !

I'm afraid I haven't been a good Polka Doodler recently and kept up with my DT duties but Nikky has been a complete star (as always) and very, very supportive. Now this week, in line with the new positive me, I made sure that my card would be ready and posted for this weeks Polka Doodles Challenge . . . "Animal Magic" . . .

I have used the dog toppers from the "Back to Nature" CD and cut them into toppers, loads of chalking, oodles of 3D foam pads to raise different parts and then matt & layering in similar colours.

The sentiment is made using "Doodlebug" rub ons, onto small squares (to keep in with the square theme of the card) and reads " W oof-tas-tic-!!!".

The inspiration for the "squares" theme for my card was from a challenge blog I have discovered for the first time "The Shabby Tea Room" whose theme this week is "It's hip to be square". Have definitely booked marked this blog as the DT makes are "breath takingly stunning".

I am also entering my card into the following challenges:

Penny's Paper Craft Challenge Blog
- theme is "anything goes"
365 cards - the "White space" challenge

Well I'm off as Friday is a busy "run around" day for me . . .collect Tuxedo's from Dry Cleaners; Steve & Luke need to buy shoes; buy my accessories for my dress as still can't find anything(!); cut the grass; the dreaded house work (yuk, yuk & yuk) . . . and loads more boring, run of the mill stuff. Have a great weekend everyone and looking forward to catching up with you on Sunday,

Lou

How long?

WOW . . time has indeed flown by without me posting. My "random" entries recently have been down to me suffering a wee bit of "depression". Loads has happened in the last year which I though I was coping with but unfortunately it would appear that I was kidding myself !!! Anyhow, enough was enough and I packed myself off to my mummy's for some serious TLC which was just what I needed. Although things are still hard, I am determined not to bottle things so much and realise that the occasional loud scream is actually quite healthy ! The card making has also taken a big dent as I just couldn't get things to "gel" and wasn't overly happy with many of my "makes" but again, have decided not to put too much pressure on myself that I give up on a much loved hobby.

Onto the card making now before I really bore you all with my random waffling . . . ! Now the challenge this week over at "Fab 'n' Funky" challenges is to "stop the neglect" by using a previous loved stamp which hasn't seen the light of day for a while. I have used a set from "My Favourite Things" which I bought eons ago and haven't inked for . . . . a long time!

I have paper pieced all the elements to fit in with the scraps of BG sugared papers I found in my designer scraps box (!). A bit of mat & layering, some ribbons and voila my card came together really quite quickly. I also took inspiration from the fab sketch over at "2S4U" this week.

Fab 'n' Funky - to use a neglect stamp(s)
2S4U - fab sketch
Stamptacular Sunday - to use "spots & dots"
Doodle Palace - Funny animals . . . well my "dino babe" does look funny!
Creative Card Crew - theme is "Happy Birthday"

Well gotta dash as busy, busy , busy this week with loads of decorating before the new carpet gets fitted next Monday . . . (eek) . . . but hope to catch up for a good dose of blog hopping on Sunday (if not before . . hee, hee, hee!).
