Christmas in August . . . !

Yep, I've caught the bug too . . . I have seen some brilliant Christmas cards on peoples blogs recently & this has spurred me on to start making a few before Christmas arrives ! I have used a Elzybells stamp that I bought last year but it was too late to use it on my Christmas cards, so I'm using it now ! ! ! Its a fab image & brilliant to colour.

This card is for 3 challenges:

Papertake Weekly Challenge - fab sketch which was a treat to use - this one is printed off & already in my "sketch" scrapbook to use another day.
Colour Create - colour theme of ruby, gold & cream
Stampacular Sunday - Scallop Mania

I have stuck to Colour Creates colour challenge this week & therefore my figures are only coloured in ruby! . . . well . . . except the lads shoes . . . they didn't look right as red! The other papers & card used have been over stamped with a gorgeous snowflake stamp (again from Elzybells) & then lots of chalking & inking. in shades of "ruby" The large snowflake has been cut out & mounted with a gold star brad which fits perfectly in the centre. Finally the sentiment reads "From our house to yours".

Hope everyone is having a great Bank Holiday Monday . . the weather is perfect here & we have had a BBQ with visiting family. Great day but I am now feeling shattered. My 2 year old nephew is a human tornado . . . runs at speed, laughs constantly & never, never stops for a second! He's a treasure really but as my youngest is 11, getting uset to a toddler with curiosity to burn, has sure sworn me out! Off to relax in front of the box now . . . .

Love this card, just can't get a good photo ! ! !

My card is for 2 challenges:

Inspirational Card Sketches - scrummy sketch & knew which stamp set I wanted to play with this week.

La-La Land Crafts Blog - The challenge this week is Stitching. Please use stitching somewhere on your card or other papercraft project. It can be machine stitching, hand stitching or faux stitching.

Thoroughly enjoyed making my card . . . played with these "All of Twitter" stamps from Elusive Images and must tell myself off as they have been sitting in a drawer doing nothing for ages . . tut, tut, tut. The tree images was just what was needed for this card as it fitted so beautifully into the fab sketch from ICS this week.

I have coloured all the images with my Promarkers & shimmer chalks. The tree toppers were then sewn onto the backing paper . . . many thanks La- La Land . . . and further layered onto other papers. Finally the last layer was stitched to my base card using my sewing machine. All papers are from Basic Grey.

Now please believe me when I say the card does look better in the flesh and I will take a new photo tomorrow & hope it turns out a lot better ! Off to do some baking now . . . blueberry muffins . . . we've got visitors tomorrow.

Hope you also have a fun Sunday,

Lou

Polkadoodles Challenge

Whoops . . . forgot to add this post to scheduler. We've been out with Aaron this morning in London & then celebrating with Luke last night. Very, very, very proud mummy . . my boy did good in his exams . . in fact brilliantly!

This week over on Polka Doodles, Nicky had us follow a sketch & asked the DT to only use papers, embellies etc from the Candy Doodles CD.

Here's the sketch

and here's my card.

I decided to go for a shaped card this time & love the "stampies" on the CD. There's a way cool boys section on there and I have manipulated one of the images to make it HUGE & then used this as my shape for my card. I have added some presents in the trucks trailer & paper pieced the other bits. Bar from the shape, for me, I think I have stuck to the sketch !!!

Just a quick post as loads to do & catch up on this weekend: people visiting us & we're visiting family as well!

Have a great weekend everyone,

Lou

Funky Fairy Challenge #31

Hope you have a good week so far. We're all fingers, toes & any other thing that can be decently crossed, are crossed, as Luke gets his GCSE results tomorrow. He's totally unfazed by the whole thing & has already mentally moved on to Sixth Form, so results are just a formality in his eyes . . . oh, the innocence of youth ! ! ! or is just "being a teenager" ? ! ? Well, it's Wednesday and only one more week left until school starts . . . where has the 6 weeks gone? It doesn't feel like we have been off that long but then with all that's been going on, I'm not surprised time has flown by . . . such is life I suppose.

Now the challenge this week over on the Funky Fairy's Challenge blog is . . .

Wedding - Something Old & Something New.
The Funky Fairy's would like to see your wedding creations that include something old and something new. As an OPTIONAL extra if you also include something borrowed and something blue on your creation your will earn yourself a 2nd entry into the random draw for the FF download prize. However please remember to include @ least one Funky Fairy's product on your project.

Well here is my card:

Papers: "Nanna's Wallpaper" Funky Fairy's Papercrafts
Chipboard & rub ons: Basic Grey
Main flowers: Hero Arts
Other bits from stash etc etc

OK . . my "something old" is the paper roses which I discovered in a drawer gathering dust (in fact I found 6 bunches in different colours!) My "something new" is the Basic Grey rub ons which I recently bought. The "something Blue" is the brad in my flower centre which if you look at carefully has a lovely pattern in blue! Finally my "something borrowed" is the ribbon taken from another project (ssshhhh!)

Finally, there is something a foot on both the Funky Fairy's Challenge Blog & the Inspiration Blog next week, so keep that day free. Can't say anymore but it will be fun, fun & more Fun!

Happy Wednesday & off to have a nose at other peoples blogs now.

Final post of the day . . I promise

I know that it seems rather mad to upload all these posts but I know that if I add them 1 at a time on different days, I'll either totally forget or Mr Scheduler just won't work for me (yet again!).

This final card has been made for the following challenges:

Charisma Cardz - another fav challenge site of mine & this weeks theme is Lemon, Green & Pink
Just Magnolia - 1st time I have entered this challenge & they have a fab sketch to follow this week.
La La Land - again another 1st for me. I haven't got any of Irina's new stamps yet . . . but when the money is a little less tight (& ear marked for other non-crafting things . . . big sigh) . . will definitely be getting some. The theme this week was to use flowers some where on your project.

All card & backing papers were taken from my scrap box. The other stamped images are from SU. I am particularly loving the huge flower which is made from loads of different layers of felt, vellum, green fabric leaves (Poundland), ribbon & a wee little charm!

I have coloured the Tilda image in with my Promarkers and have already pre-ordered some of the must have NEW colours !

Now finally giving up the typing for tonight and off for a blog hop whilst watching Horatio . . . gotta watch Horatio . . . love his sun glasses action. Off to sort out all the bits we need to repair . . . whoops sorry should say . . . improve our kitchen.

Take care,

Lou

3rd post of the day - ICS challenge

As I have been on hols for a while it has been nearly 3 weeks since I last joined in and then I was lucky enough to be chosen by Dawn to be a "Guest Designer" . . . so very, very, very chuffed. Most people who read my blog know that ICS is a challenge that I endeavour to join in every week - love the sketches and the DT inspiration. The sketch this week was equally as brilliant . . .

. . . and I have done something different for me this week ! I've completed a scrapbook page . . . yep, you read it correctly . . . a scrapbook page. As soon as I saw the sketch I knew I wanted to do a page because of a photo I had of Luke & Aaron from over 5 years ago. It was just PERFECT for this sketch. Now I'm getting nervous showing you now . . . .

The photo was taken in Ireland whilst visiting Mum and the lads had climbed on this HUGE granite rock & with the sky that day, I thought that it would be a FAB photo opportunity . . . well the boys thought differently ! So without further waffling here is my page . . .

I have used "Aqualicious" papers & frames from Funky Fairy's; all card is from SU; the monkey & snake are transparent stickers I found in a drawer (!) & doodling with a white gel pen. However, I feel that there is something missing or needs adding . . . any ideas . . . please!

Hope your weekend is fab and the weather is holding out for you? I'm off to try some of Luke's home made Brownies . . . it's a bit of luck that I tidied up the kitchen isn't it?!?!?!?

2nd post of the day !

WOW, been allowed to craft today but that could be something to do with the fact that my "One Armed Wonder" aka hubby decided to make a new doorway for the kitchen ! ! ! Yep, thought about it a little and then just did it ! The dust got everywhere and being lads, didn't think to shut the other doors in the house . . . say no more. Well enough of my domestic drama's and onto my card which is for 2 challenges:

2S4U - haven't joined in for ages & don't know why ! Loved the sketch and my card came together really quickly.
Secret Crafter - I was drawn to this weeks challenge because of the theme . . . "Turquoise & Brown" . . just hoping that the "blues" used are the right shade!

Before I forget, the image I received was in a RAK & unfortunately I do not know which company it is from . . . can anyone help? Well better finish this post quickly as the 2S4U ends tonight . . . whoops!

Have a great weekend everyone,

Lou

Your Next Stamp

I have to be honest and say that normally I am not a cute stamp person but these stamps are adorable. So loving the jungle & under the sea sets . . it's all the accessory bits you get in the set which make them even better value for money (than they already are) . . . I'm also a sucker for silly sentiments too!

Now at this moment "Your Next Stamp" have a DT call and I thought "why not" . . . there is no harm trying. One of the criteria is to show on your blog 2 of your favourite stamping cards . . . now this bit was difficult as I couldn't just narrow it down to 2 & when I asked the family for some input, they all chose something different . . . no help there then! OK . . . after much indecisiveness, I finally decided on these 2 . . . (but don't be surprised if the photo's on this post change!!!!)

Serene Tilda stamp with all the backgrounds stamped, inked & chalked!

Love how this stamped image goes so well with the funky cakes.

Well did I choose wisely? There were 1 or 2 others that I would love to include but as the post said only show 2 . . I did as I was told!

Fingers crossed now,

Lou

Polka Doodles Challenge #12

WOW, it is an absolute age that I have participated in the Polka Doodles challenge . . . what with family illness, broken bones & then going on holiday . . . the weeks have simply flown by!

Well this weeks challenge was to follow a sketch - Nikky also asked the DT to use the Candy Doodles papers to make our cards.

Here is my card and I have gone for a really girly card - pink & flowers which isn't my normal "thing" but actually love how it has turned out. I have printed off 2 of the flower backgrounds, turning 1 into a topper & then using the 2nd to add further flower layers etc. I also did something very alien for me . . . I used mirri board ! Yep, I took the plunge and used black mirri board on the card & as I was trying to photograph the card, was cursing the stuff!

Still catching up with everyone as you've all been so busy these last 3 weeks and I didn't want to miss out on anything !!! Speak soon (!) as will definitely visiting !

Wednesday, 19 August 2009

Hey, I'm back !

Well I had loads of posts scheduled but obviously made a boob again and didn't do it right . . oh well, c'est la vie!

We all had a fab time in Ireland and the weather was absolutely fab ! No rain what so ever . . . unheard of to say the least. Caught up with loads of relatives, had several Guinness's plus a few Whiskey's, stayed in a really posh hotel in Bray and did the real tourist thing around Dublin (haven't done that for years). We also visited a really, really, really small pub in Shillelagh called the "Dying Cow" and had a fab night. It was totally in the back of beyond but was so busy it was unbelievable. The pub is so small that no more than 10 people could be seated inside at any one time - a definite recommendation to anyone going to that neck of the woods in Ireland.

Unfortunately leading up to the holiday loads of things happened and I was beginning to think that we would never get away. My step mum was extremely poorly again & no sooner got over one thing, then ended up with pneumonia & finally swine flu! Then hubby decided that he would break his wrist in 5 places - the eejit fell off a ladder whilst cutting a hedge. We had to laugh (only a little) as Steve is normally the most safety conscious person going & he is the last person you would imagine having an accident. He had the accident 4 days before we were going away & the hospital were ummimg & aaahing whether he would get his permanent cast in time for us to go away but they were brill and pulled out all the stops for us . . so a big cheer to Addenbrookes Hospital.

Have to say though that this meant I was doing all the driving and after racking up over 1800 miles in 17 days, I do not want to drive for a long time - simply had enough of all the back seat driving from darling hubby !

Finally, how are you all? Hope you are well? I am planning a seriously good blog hop tomorrow to catch up on all the gossip and see all the crafty goodness I have missed.

Take care & "speak soon",

Lou

2nd week as GD for ICS !

Well 2 weeks has just flown by and my time is now up with Inspiration Card Sketches . . . sob, sob. I want to say a HUGE thanks to Dawn for asking me to be a guest designer and if you need me again . . . just holla! ! ! Well if you don't ask . . . .

This weeks sketch was a blinder but Dawn added a twist . . . please make a Christmas card using the sketch. As I had a good play with my stamps last week, thought I'd do so again this week. I have flipped the sketch upside down so I could have my ribbon & wire at the top & not along the bottom as per the sketch.

The stamps are my drawings turned into rubber and the sentiment is from Funky Fairy's - such a cute sentiment. Papers were in my scrap box but I think they are from DCWV.

Well I'm off at my mummy's at the moment as I needed to relax & unwind from all the madness but I have scheduled some other posts, so please do pop back as I appreciate all the comments I get.

Take care,

LuLu
